By Ashish Kumar Mandal,Kathmandu, Nepal : Prime Minister Balendra Shah has urged lawmakers from the Gen Z age group to take the lead, with fresh thinking and a creative approach, in creating employment and opportunities within the country for their own generation.

At an interaction with Gen Z lawmakers held today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar, Prime Minister Shah called on them to go beyond simply solving basic problems related to people’s livelihoods and to play an active role in creating an environment that makes the younger generation self-reliant.

To this end, Prime Minister Shah advised them to prioritize field-based study and research, make maximum use of information technology, develop a habit of seeking solutions alongside identifying problems, and move away from outdated and impractical thinking and working styles.

He also stressed that lawmakers and young politicians should not treat politics as their only source of income, but should build a separate professional and vocational foundation of their own. He urged them to become self-reliant through their own profession, business, or enterprise, and in the long run to serve as examples and sources of inspiration for society.

The Gen Z lawmakers who took part in the interaction said they regarded Prime Minister Shah’s advice as parental guidance, and expressed their commitment to actively join the campaign to make the younger generation self-reliant and to create employment and opportunities within the country.

The lawmakers also expressed the view that concrete initiatives should be advanced in the areas of employment, entrepreneurship, technology, and self-reliance, keeping the needs and aspirations of the new generation at the center.
