By Ashish Kumar Mandal, Kathmandu, Nepal : Prime Minister Balendra Shah attended a special ceremony held at Sheetal Niwas, the Office of the President, on the occasion of Constitution Day and National Day 2083 BS.
The ceremony was hosted by President Ram Chandra Paudel on Saturday. Prime Minister Shah attended the event at the invitation of President Paudel.
Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, the Chief Justice, the Chairperson of the National Assembly, former prime ministers, members of Parliament, leaders of various political parties, heads of diplomatic missions and other distinguished personalities were also present at the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, President Paudel emphasized that the Constitution should not be limited to speeches and formalities but should be implemented in a way that allows citizens to experience its provisions and benefits in their daily lives. He stressed the need to strengthen public trust in the state through good governance and effective public service delivery.
Earlier, while addressing the main Constitution Day ceremony at Tundikhel in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Shah stated that the government remains committed to the letter and spirit of the Constitution. He expressed the government’s commitment to ensuring good governance, development, social justice and citizens’ rights through effective implementation of the Constitution.
Nepal is currently governed under the Constitution of Nepal, 2015 (2072 BS). The Constitution came into force on Ashoj 3, 2072 BS (September 20, 2015), following its adoption by the Constituent Assembly. Constitution Day and National Day are observed annually on Ashoj 3 to commemorate the promulgation of the Constitution.
