Kathmandu, 20 January – The first tranche of election-related assistance from India was handed over today in a ceremony in Kathmandu to Nepal’s Minister for Home Affairs, Mr. Om Prakash Aryal.

At the ceremony, Dr. Rakesh Pandey, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, handed over more than 60 double-cab pickup vehicles along with other essential supplies. These items form part of the assistance requested by the Government of Nepal for preparations for the upcoming elections.

Minister Aryal expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of India and praised the deep friendship and multi-faceted partnership between Nepal and India.

India has been providing election-related support to Nepal since 2008. During this period, around 2,400 vehicles have been gifted to various ministries and departments, including the Election Commission. For the upcoming elections, India’s assistance includes approximately 650 vehicles, which will be delivered in separate batches over the coming weeks.

This ongoing cooperation reflects not only the administrative support needed for elections but also symbolizes the strong mutual trust, friendship, and development partnership between the people of India and Nepal. (foto source : indian Embassy, nepal)
