Tehran (Iran), Oct 25 (RSS): The delegates from member countries participating in the 18th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Tehran, the capital of Iran, met with the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi today. In the meeting held at the President’s office, Raisi said that the role of the media has increased in terms of freedom of expression, finding and communicating the truth.
The media is very powerful in terms of maintaining the identity of individuals, society and the country, he said while commenting that some media did not fulfill such responsibility. President Risi emphasized that the news agencies of the countries affiliated to OANA should create an atmosphere of cooperation and coordination among themselves.
“If we work together, we can make significant achievements,” he said. Executive chairperson of the National News Agency (RSS) Dharmendra Jha is representing Nepal in the General Assembly.
A total of 60 delegates including directors, managers and editors of news agencies from 35 member countries in the Asia-Pacific region are participating in the four-day General Assembly that ends on October 26.
