Janakpurdham. Police have arrested two individuals, including Dipak Sah alias “Mintu,” the former president of the Mahabir Youth Committee, on charges of defrauding his own son-in-law of property. The District Police Office, Dhanusha, took Dipak Sah and Rajesh Prasad Sah—residents of Janakpurdham–5—into custody on the basis of arrest warrants issued by the Dhanusha District Court.
According to police, Birjanandan Sah and Manju Devi, who are also accused in the same case, are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest them, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bahadur Bam of Dhanusha.
The fraud case was filed by Vijay Sah, who is related as the accused persons’ son-in-law. The victim, Vijay Sah, has been living in the United States for about 20 years. With the intention of purchasing land and constructing a house in Janakpurdham using money earned through hard work abroad, he trusted his parents-in-law Birjanandan Sah and Manju Devi, as well as his brothers-in-law Dipak Sah and Rajesh Prasad Sah, and transferred funds and property in his own name during that period.
However, the victim alleges that instead of registering the property in his name, it was registered in the names of his parents-in-law and brothers-in-law. When he later demanded the return of his land and cash, the accused allegedly refused, prompting him to realize he had been defrauded and to seek legal recourse through the court.
Meanwhile, according to sources, following serious allegations of fraud and dishonesty against the former president of a reputable social organization like the Mahabir Youth Committee, the committee’s executive members are holding internal discussions on suspending Dipak Sah.
