(Aashish kumar),janakpur, (Madhesh Province):The Madhesh Province government is facing strong opposition over its plan to construct a Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Park near the historic Salhesh Garden in Lahan, Siraha district. Despite both King Salhesh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar being revered figures within the Paswan community, several leaders from the same community have raised concerns about the location of the proposed park.

On Sunday, representatives from all eight districts of the province, under the banner of the Salhesh Garden Protection Struggle Committee, submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh. Accusing the provincial government of attempting to erase cultural heritage in the name of development, the committee demanded that the Ambedkar Park be built at a different location, away from the sacred Salhesh Garden.
The delegation included National Assembly member and central leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Radheshyam Paswan, former Constituent Assembly member Mahendra Paswan, and other prominent community leaders.

During the meeting, Assembly member Paswan accused the provincial government of conspiring to destroy the historical significance of Salhesh Garden and warned that the community would launch a phased protest movement if the construction is not halted immediately.
On the 15th of Baisakh (April 27), Janamat Party Chairperson Dr. CK Raut and Chief Minister Singh had jointly laid the foundation stone for the park. Since then, local residents, political activists, and intellectuals have voiced their disapproval, stating that constructing the park at such a sensitive heritage site is inappropriate.
