Matihani, Mahottari : The Postal Services Department has released a special postal stamp recognizing Nepal’s largest Laxminarayan Temple (Math) in Matihani as a heritage site of national importance. The Rs. 10 stamp depicts the temple and its outer structure.
At the official ceremony, Minister for Information and Communications, Mr. Jagdish Kharel, formally affixed the stamp and announced its release. He expressed the government’s commitment to promote Matihani not only within Nepal but also internationally as a major religious tourism destination.

Earlier, on Ashar 11, 2081 B.S., Matihani Municipality had formally submitted a proposal to the Postal Department for the publication of this stamp. The continuous efforts of Mayor Mr. Hari Prasad Mandal played a crucial role in advancing this initiative. Expressing his happiness, Mayor Mandal said, “This step has strengthened the cultural and religious identity of Matihani and uplifted the pride of our local community.”
He further stressed that since Laxminarayan Math is an invaluable historical, mythological, and Rajguthi heritage, its preservation and promotion at the national level is essential. He also announced that the municipality will bring forward further programs to highlight Matihani as a key religious tourism hub.
Local stakeholders praised Minister Kharel’s active involvement and Mayor Mandal’s initiative, stating that the issuance of the postal stamp has elevated Matihani’s national recognition to new heights.
