Janakpurdham, Asar 1 – In a remarkable demonstration of social responsibility, Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City has extended financial support of NPR 599,100 (Five lakh ninety-nine thousand one hundred rupees) to Manav Sewa Ashram, Janakpur. Under the leadership of Mayor Manoj Kumar Sah, this initiative aims to strengthen the care provided to 55 mentally challenged and extremely underprivileged individuals residing in the Ashram.

The donation cheque was received on behalf of the Ashram by Rita Pokharel. On the occasion, Mayor Sah expressed his deep commitment to philanthropy and promised continued support to make the Ashram stronger and more self-reliant.
According to Suman Bartaula, the caretaker of the Ashram, the donated amount will be used to cover the rent of the current shelter, which costs NPR 135,000 per month. For a more permanent solution, Mayor Sah has already initiated efforts to secure land from the Central Guthi Office in Kathmandu, and approval is expected soon.

The Sub-Metropolitan City has also announced a waiver of the building blueprint approval fee, and Mayor Sah shared plans for additional programs to further support the Ashram in the future.
This gesture reflects Mayor Sah’s compassionate leadership and the Sub-Metropolitan City’s commitment to inclusive and service-oriented governance, paving the way for Janakpurdham to be recognized as a model city of humanity and care.
Local citizens, intellectuals, journalist Sanjay Sah, social worker Pawan Singhania, and former president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jitendra Mahaseth were present on the occasion.
(It should be remembered that just a few days ago, the ashram’s founders, Suman Bartaula and Rita Pokhrel, had made serious allegations through the media that they had been beaten up by the sub-metropolitan city police.)
