Kathmandu, Nov 4: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has argued that if he resigned from the post at present, the country would face dire straits.

At a programme organized to inaugurate an Annex Building of Institute of Medicine, TU, on Wednesday, PM Oli made it clear that he would not tender resignation merely on the rumour in media reports. “Do you think it is time for my resignation? I’m not saying it for me but for country’s sake.

If I resign from the post now, the country heads to dire straits. So, I don’t step down,” PM Oli reiterated, adding he was at this position not because of his wishes, but because of people’s need.” Indicating the recent feud within the ruling Nepal Communist Party, PM Oli further said, “I am in this position not through any machination but with massive public support.” He urged all not to be worried but continue works.

He however said conspiracies were hatched to topple the government. There is trend of making negative criticism in every step, the PM made aware, adding all not be swayed by such attitude.

“We work for stability in the country,” he asserted. The standing committee meeting of the NCP held on 11 September had agreed that PM and party Chairman would lead the government for full term and another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to lead the party as executive chairman and settle in-party dispute. However, the ruling NCP has witnessed disputes over different issues including Karnali Province committee, Cabinet reshuffle, appointment of ambassadors.(RSS)
