Janakpurdham. In the recent land dispute between the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) and the Nepal Bar Association, Janakpur Chapter, the Mayor of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City, Manoj Kumar Sah, has openly expressed his support for the journalists.
The dispute escalated after the Nepal Bar Association, Janakpur, claimed ownership and created obstructions over a plot of land that the FNJ, Madhesh Province, had already leased from the Guthi Sansthan for a period of 20 years. During a meeting with the FNJ delegation on Monday, Mayor Sah strongly objected to the Bar Association’s claim, terming it “unjust and unfair.”
He clarified that since the land lease process had already been completed legally, the Bar Association had no authority to obstruct it. “Creating obstacles over land obtained through due legal process is a wrongful act by the Bar Association,” Mayor Sah stated.
He further emphasized that the issue should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations, while also stressing that those found guilty should face legal action. Urging both sides to remain calm, Mayor Sah said the dispute must be settled in a peaceful manner.
The meeting was attended by officials from FNJ Madhesh Province, FNJ Dhanusha, Press Chautari, Press Union, and representatives from various media organizations.
